Writer - The Manchester Wire / Just A Platform
September until present (Unpaid)
Since my contract ended as a Researcher for Blakeway North, I’ve been writing for two websites - The Manchester Wire, which promotes art, culture and upcoming events in Manchester, and Just a Platform, which I’ve just had a series on independent Manchester commissioned for. See the Project page for my Writing Portfolio.
Researcher - Blakeway North
May - September 2014
Moving into full time production for Blakeway North, my
responsibilities as a Researcher on Swap My Council House were
ranged from casting and writing contributor biographies, to
extensive location work, scheduling and managing shoots.
-
Casting for this production was a huge task, timescales were short and pressurised and access was difficult and at times, sensitive. However, I went on to independently source and cast three of our five lead stories.
-
Location work was divided between two PDs and three researchers / APs. When not in the office casting, I worked alongside a Producer / Director on shoots – setting up XF305 and GoPro equipment, managing Release and Consents, as well as being in charge of budgeting float. I also scheduled shoots and liaised with and managed a variety of contributors.
Researcher / Junior Productioon Co-ordinator - Blakeway North - November 2013 - May 2014
My role at Blakeway North was initially split between Production Co-ordination, development and archive researcher across four different documentaries. Despite having a lot of responsibility in post-production, I managed to balance this workload alongside editorial work - extensive archive and factual research for production, as well as pitching new ideas and writing treatments for development.
